Business and Education Partnerships
What is a Business & Education Partnership?
What do senior proms, reading programs, field trips, physical fitness training, business etiquette, and computer classes have to do with one another? They are all examples of ways that business and community groups are making a difference in Newport News Public Schools through Business & Education Partnerships.
A Business & Education Partnership is a collaborative agreement between a school and an organization to help students learn, grow and attain the knowledge they will need for the future. Partnerships can exist between schools and businesses, religious institutions, civic groups, nonprofit associations, academic institutions and military commands.
Registering to be a Business & Education Partner is easy. The Peninsula Council for Workforce Development has partnered with local school divisions and has developed a website (http://www.pcfwd.org) that pairs businesses and educators. To register, all that you need to do is log on to the website, fill out a simple form and indicate how you would like help Newport News Public Schools.
Afterwards the Peninsula Council for Workforce Development and an individual from the school division will contact you. You can also contact the Newport News Public Schools Community Relations Department at (757) 591-4502, or through e-mail at BizEd@nn.k12.va.us.
