21st Century Community Learning Centers

The Newport News Community Learning Center is a federally funded initiative that provides students with a safe, fun, and academically enriched program at selected elementary and middle schools.

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers provides students with academic support and encouragement in mathematics, language arts using a combination of tutoring, small group instruction, interactive technologies, enrichment and field trips.

Typical program schedules include weekdays after school from the close of the school day until approximately 6:00 p.m., with a multi-week summer component that runs from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. The program and activities are offered free of charge to students and transportation is provided.
